Technical Notes:
The album was recorded at Rumbo Recorders, Los Angeles, and Jardines Barn, Big Sur, California.
All recording was done on Neve consoles, operating in class A, and Studer A-800 multi-track tape recorders.
Two 24-track Studer tape recorders and a Neve, NECAM computer assisted console were electronically linked together for the final 48 track mixdown.
Microphones used include: Vocals - Neumann M-49; RCA 77-DX; Wahrenbrock PZM-A.
Instruments - AKG C-24, D-12; PZM-A; Neumann U-87, KM 84; Shure SM 57.
Tape to disc transfer made at Kendun Recorders utilizing Neumann disc cutting equipment.

All selections were recorded in true stereophonic sound with special attention to spatial perspective.
This type of recording is much more exciting to hear since it fills the room with sound much as would be present in a live performance.

The Beach Boys are an iconic American rock band, frequently cited as one of the most influential and commercially successful groups in the history of popular music due to their intricate vocal harmonies, studio experiments, and novel approaches to pop songwriting. Rooted in doo-wop and rock and roll, their early string of vocal surf hits defined the '60s California Sound. For a period afterward, they notably delved into progressive pop styles. often combining elements from classical and jazz in innovative ways. Keepin' the Summer Alive isn't just a low point of the band's career, it is the low point. Ripe with mindless throwaways and lifeless filler, Keepin' the Summer Alive is the sound of a group earnestly trying to hang on to the last fibers of popularity it accumulated during the mid-'70s. A mindless, predictable rendition of School Days does nothing to pick things up and is easily forgettable, as is most of the record. Keepin' the Summer Alive is the 23rd studio album by the Beach Boys, released on March 24, 1980. It is the last album to feature founding member and drummer Dennis Wilson, who would drown in December 1983. Side one. Keepin' the Summer Alive Carl Wilson, Randy Bachman - 3:43.
