Album

Hall of the Mountain King is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Savatage, released in 1987 under the direction of producer Paul O'Neill. It is their first album produced by O'Neill, who was assigned to the band after the tour in support of Fight for the Rock. This album shows the beginning of Savatage's exploration of progressive metal, in their search for new forms of musical expression. Many fans consider this album the original turning point in their musical identity. Hall of the Mountain King - Savatage. The catchy pop-metal of Strange Wings was ironically a better song than any of the band's more blatant attempts at commercialism. Meanwhile, 24 Hours Ago, one of three tracks the group co-wrote with O'Neill, was an impressive opener with an interesting tempo changes and personal lyrics that pointed to the direction the band would soon take. Fans of the later, more progressive Savatage might not enjoy the group's earlier work, but this is a fine place to start looking. Track Listing. Savatage however is too heavy to be considered a hard rock band in the literal sense so I would classify them as a standard heavy metal band with fast, shredding solos. Songs The Price You Pay, White Witch, Last Dawn, & Devastation. The Price You Pay has one of my favorite riffs in this album. Jon Oliva shows that he also has a very good low voice. When we chase our goals and dreams in life, there is a price to pay because sometimes we succeed and sometimes we dont. Cast your vote for Savatage Hall of the Mountain King. 24 Hrs
