Villains is the seventh studio album by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released on August 25, 2017 through Matador. The album was announced on June 14, with a teaser trailer taking the form of a comedy skit featuring the band performing a polygraph test with Liam Lynch. The first single, The Way You Used to Do, was released the following day along with the announcement of a world tour. Villains is the first Queens of the Stone Age album to not feature any special guest musicians, the. Villains is the seventh album from Queens of the Stone Age, released August 25, 2017 via Matador Records. Frontman Josh Homme talked about the meaning behind the title, Villains, in a press release stating that it had nothing to do with our current political situation. The title Villains isnt a political statement. It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. Villains does not feature any guest musicians unlike the band's previous albums. Several of the songs from the album were previewed in some form prior to its release. The read more. Domesticated Animals. Queens of the Stone Age. It takes nearly a minute for Villains to begin its slow ascent from the murk and even longer before the clenched funk of Feet Don't Fail Me Now clicks in, a deliberateness that suggests Josh Homme has supreme confidence in the seventh album from Queens of the Stone Age. Queens of the Stone Age always sounded like the best glam-band name ever, and while Josh Hommes free-ranging heavy rock hypnotists were never quite that, they come as close as ever on Villains. I was born in the desert May 17, in 73 Homme declares on the opener, Feet Dont Fail Me which is true, in fact. It also happens to be a date near glams peak, and the echo of Rick Derringers spangled 73 top-40 anthem Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo is probably no accident, either. By the tail end, hes sounding more like David Bowie than even Era Vulgaris campy I Wanna Make It Wit Chu back i. Nearly two decades later, Queens of the Stone Age are one of the biggest names in contemporary hard rock. Aside from Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails-whose figureheads, Dave Grohl and Trent Reznor, have both appeared on past Queens albums-youd be hard-pressed to find a group of comparable critical or commercial standing. Further buttressing the groups ubiquity is Hommes many collaborations, seen in the frontmans resume of side projects Desert Sessions, Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures and productionperformance stints Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop, the Strokes offshoot CRX. Josh Homme and Queens Of The Stone Age are on the cover of this week's NME. We caught up with them in Paris to find out their favourite moments recording their epic new album. Pick up the magazine for the full story. Josh Homme has offered just a couple of hints about new material. A source close to informed the site that there will be no special guests on the album, which means no cameo from occasional band member and Homme mate Dave Grohl. Its a Queens-only affair. By contrast, 2013s Like Clockwork was crammed full of guests. Elton John, Alex Turner, Trent Reznor, M. Complete your Queens Of The Stone Age collection. I have the pre-ordered indie version but mine are etched with OLE-1125-1, anyone else? Indie should be OLE-1125-8 no?
Is only the US-Edition limited to 7.000 pieces? Or is that the same with the EU-Edition to?
7,000 to this US edition confirmed by the label. other edition unknown. or EU retailers know
I got mine from a fan ticket pre-sale, shipped directly to me from Matador (not an indie store). I also have the sticker sheet. Otherwise identical to this release. "Exclusively released to Indie Record stores"
This is selling out quick. No more at the Matador store. Damn good album
Guess I got lucky, my copy is dead silent and sounds perfectly. This is definitely meant to be played LOUD!
Mine is also dead silent. Can't complain about this release at all!
My copy has a pretty heavy ring warp on LP1. It will play, but it looks like a rollercoaster. Will be returning it and getting another copy.
Mine has some noise that is noticeable on track 1, as well. Not too intrusive other than at the slow buildup to the song.No sticker sheet inside, but lyrics sheet is there.I get middle fingers at me on the cover,so there is that...along with the baby blue background alternative. My record store handed out promo posters with all of the artwork included in the deluxe version...(and that was on the reverse side). The front of the promo poster has the regular standard red cover with no middle fingers.
The standard red cover has the devil showing 'middle fingers' as well. It's just a clever way to get it past the fragile sensibilities of American retailers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_sign#As_an_insult
Apart the stickers sheet thing. What about sound quality on this version?
Elastic Skunk
Sound is awesome even in my not so expensive turntable.
No stickers in normal"recordstore" issue of this - but lyric sheet is there..
My store copy came with the sticker sheet. Purchased it on the Tuesday after release.
Ordered from Matador, came with Stickers sheet. Plan on having the coolest Trapper Keeper in school this year
No stickers in mine. Track one is extremely noisy on mine . . . anybody else have this issue?
Nope, no issues with the quality of the record, or track 1
No. Mine sounds great all the way. Stickers only came with the Matador preorder
