No James Brown album is totally worthless and this one has iconic significance as the first full concert by Brown and his Famous Flames to be released on record. But having said that, its an okay album, not a great one. Its on a par with early Ike and Tins records, not with browns own later major Funk discs. James Brown was the greatest entertainer I have ever seen and this 1962 live performance must have been electrifying. On disc it is stunning and fascinating at the same time. Obsessed with soul perfection, the great entertainer was a great innovator, and fabulous singer. James brown, the complete apollo concert. Condition: Brand New. The affirmative screams and cries of the audience are something you've never experienced unless you've seen the Brown Revue in a Black theater. If you have, I need not say more if you haven't, suffice to say that this should be one of the very first records you ever own.
